One in Eight Women Worldwide are affected!

Thestatisticsarefrightening. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Local Chatham business, The Glasshouse Nursery and Garden Centre along with other nurseries in Canada and the US are teaming up with 'Proven Winners', plant company to help raise $1,000,000.00 for Breast Cancer research and awareness. 'Proven Winners' experienced a breakthrough this year with a remarkable new plant now just available at participating Garden Centres. The white flowering 'Annabelle Hydrangea' has been a favourite of gardeners worldwide for many years. The new amazing 'Invincibelle Spirit' Annabelle Hydrangea flowers with huge abundant pink blooms and has become the hottest selling plant in the gardening world. One dollar of the sale of each of 'Invincibelle Spirit' Hydrangea will go to the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation). Glasshouse's goal is to raise $8000.00 during 'Pink WB64247664 Day' Saturday June 12th. These proceeds will also go to support 'Breast Buddies', the local women's Dragon Boat Team, who are all breast cancer survivors themselves. Their emphasis is on increasing awareness of breast cancer in our local community through weekend Dragon Boat races. Breast Buddies help women affected with breast cancer cope with recovery and their lives afterwards. Also if you make a donation, the Glasshouse will offer you 25% off the purchase of all plants throughout the garden centre that either flower pink or have other pink characteristics. The Glasshouse has brought in many, many pink plants especially for this event. Several Sponsors will be on location offering free refreshments and treats all day long. Come join in the fun on Pink Day. Come dressed with your craziest pink outfit and win a door prize.Visitwww.invincibellespirit. net for more information or call the Glasshouse @ 519-352-1127. Advertorial Learning Centre were to visit at 10 a.m. Just before their arrival Capt. Terry Brown gave me an overview of what it is to be a firefighter today. I developed a healthy respect not only for a fire; but for those who have chosen this line of work. Brown gave me printed material, which is available to everyone, educating preschoolers to seniors. There is no excuse for ignorance on how to plan, prepare and practice for potential fire. I began asking myself: how many families, churches, organizations and places of employment have ever had a fire drill? Wouldn't it be great if our hometown took on the initiative to correct this? Brown informed WB64208615 me the fires of today are more than just wood burning. Firefighters have to deal with a variety of chemicals and materials such as asbestos and plastic. They have always had to protect themselves; but more so now because of the danger of absorptions into their skin of different chemicals. I was impressed with the fire fighters as they patiently educated the children. After the session, those who wanted to were lifted into the fire truck. I am also impressed with the leadership that took the time and planning to take these little, impressionable children to the fire station. Seeded into these developing minds is a response on what to do if there is a fire. First, they need to get out; and if they are not able to they were told not to hide but crawl on the floor until help comes. The truths I heard today apply to everyone. It is so vital to be informed, have a plan and then practice.
