Large number of local complaints with Hydro One: McNaughton

David Gough Courier Press When it comes to complaints about hydro costs and specifically Hydro One, this area is ground zero, said Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton. Hydro One is a Crown corporation that handles both provincewide transmission as well as distribution to some parts of Ontario. The Ontario government is planning on selling a portion of Hydro One. NDP Leader Andrea Horwath and PC Leader Patrick Brown have both opposed the plan, saying it will drive up already high hydro rates if large parts of the publicly-owned utility are offered to the private sector. McNaughton calls the Hydro One sell off a ?fire sale.? ?They are selling it off, something that has been owned by the public for generations,? McNaughton said. He points out that the sell off

will only bring in $4 billion to the province. ?My concern is that we have a government that doesn?t have a strong track record of managing tax dollars wisely,?
